n the framework of the preparation for the 15th of november meeting which will see the french and italian gaelic football selections take on in Toulouse for the very first international game in the history of gaelic football, a new organization was established during the month of august.
Indeed , the Italian gaelic football and aussie rules associations decided to join forces to promote their respective sports in the peninsula, "Calcio Gaelico & Football Australiano Italia" is born.
The objective is to bring together people of good will in every code in order to develop the practising of these games who share many similarities.
"It was after a failed attempt to create an Italian gaelic football federation that the need of linkages between the two codes appeared as an obvious move" .
As already currently exists in France, the aim of the new structure is to help and guide the creation of new teams in cities where projects are on tracks (Milan, Como, Barletta, Genova, Lodi).
Announcement of the final selection will be made before the end of september.
On the french side, this end of august is the opportunity for the selectors to gather all the best players in a training camp that will take place in the city of Guérande (70kms from Nantes).
32 mens (16 from the brittany league , 16 from the federal championship) and 14 womens will alternatively play a series of six "half times", the duration of the games will be 30 minutes each half.
A unique window for Olivier Kowarski & Guillaume Thomas (men's selectors) and Jean-Philippe Meunier (womens) to assess the performances and levels of every players, these are going to benefit of an equal time play.
